This study investigates the performance of MySQL against PostgreSQL in a CPU-bound insert benchmark using 24-core and 32-core servers. The results reveal significant differences in write IO performance, with MySQL exhibiting larger regressions at low concurrency compared to PostgreSQL. The study also examines the impact of concurrency levels and the use of secondary indexes.
