Theoretical results on performance bounds of virtual machines/bytecode interpreters compared to native instruction execution. Tomasulo algorithm and CPU limitations are discussed. JVM claims of matching native execution are presented, but lack of concrete evidence. Academic literature search reveals limited results beyond JVM optimizations.
